About BABAA

BABAA, the Build America Buy America Act, is a law that applies a new purchasing preference towards American-made products stating that federally funded infrastructure projects require the use of American-made materials and products. To be in compliance with BABAA, the majority of the components in a product must be USA-made from aluminum extrusions, steel, lensing, and more.

Enacted on November 15, 2021, as part of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, this law is meant to strengthen the USA industrial base, protect national security, and support high-paying jobs. 

Prudential Lighting is BABAA Certified

All of Prudential Lighting’s standard fixtures comply with the Build America Buy America Act. We ensure this through locally sourcing materials and producing in-house. The majority of our materials are sourced in California within 50 miles of our plant and only a select few materials such as LEDs, drivers, and a few others, are sourced from outside the USA. Additionally, we have a full-service manufacturing plant with in-house production, ensuring that all our fixtures are American made. 

We also provide a range of non-standard fixtures equipped with emergency batteries, sensors, and other additional components that still comply with BABAA standards. Our knowledgeable representatives are available to offer further consultation on these options and we can supply a certification letter for all fixtures that meet BABAA compliance.

BABAA and Sustainability Initiatives 

Being in compliance with BABAA also ties into our company’s sustainability initiatives. In our case, locally sourcing our material means that we are cutting down on fossil fuels and our in-house production means that we can control all parts of our production processes, including recycling.

At our LA-based plant, we have implemented comprehensive recycling initiatives that include recycling 100% of our aluminum, steel, plastics, wiring, and cardboard, along with a closed-loop filtration process that recycles 100% of our water for powder coating.
