Prudential Lighting Embraces a Reductionist Approach with Launch of Beautifully Minimalistic Luminaires
There’s “Look at me” lighting, and there’s Pru1. Pru1 is Prudential Lighting’s new, tastefully understated linear lighting system with a quietly stylish presence that defers to everything else in the room, from architectural features to furnishings and wall art.
When you want to see light, not light fixtures, utilize Pru1. This new generation of pendants are nearly invisible with minimal hanging hardware available in 18 premium paint colors with in-house power coating. This new series is available in versatile sizes: 1.5˝ diameter with five types of optics: direct/indirect, direct, indirect, and asymmetric. Additional hanging features include a 1.75” louver with power over aircraft cable.
The Pru1 luminaires feature symmetric distribution best utilized for open ceilings. Their Ceiling Wash gently washes ceilings more evenly, especially important the closer the fixtures are to the ceiling.
Two types of Wall Washes, Flat and Focal Glow, achieve a fully cohesive look with sleek, subtle illumination throughout the entire space. Pru1 Flat Wall Wash bathes walls in soft, even, floor-to-ceiling light to create a monolithic accent wall. Fixture placement (setback) is critical for this all-encompassing effect. Too close to the surface being lit, and the evenness is compromised. Too far, and the light spills onto the floor. For optimal effect, max intensity is 20 degrees, with fixture placement 36 inches away for 8 to 9-foot mounting.
Designed to highlight artwork or add drama to a vertical surface, Pru1 Focal Glow creates a sweeping curve with a highlight at eye level, diminishing smoothly above and below. The max intensity angle is raised to about 40 degrees with the fixture typically placed 36 inches away – again, dependent upon mounting height.
