West Green Market, Boyd Hall, Ohio University, Athens, Ohio
Project Description: During the renovation of The Ohio University’s Boyd Dining Hall, Tec Studio Inc. lighting design services used a fraction of the allowable lighting power density (LPD) to provide the lighting levels recommended by the IES and dramatically reduce the lighting energy consumed by the space. The lighting design features linear tracks, with current-limiting devices and LED retrofit lamps, and thoughtful fixture spacing to deliver the necessary amount of light throughout the dining and food preparation areas in a significantly smaller footprint.
“Achieving the ever-decreasing LPD allowed by ASHRAE 90.1 requires designers to use the right lighting products in the right way.”
